Elizabeth Kuzma, DNP, FNP-BC, is a Clinical Associate Professor at University of Michigan's School of Nursing (UMSN) in the Health Behavior and Biological Sciences department. As a Family Nurse Practitioner she is committed to working with vulnerable and underserved populations, particularly at-risk, high ACE youth. Dr. Kuzma is an expert in providing holistic, trauma-informed primary care with cultural humility, including health promotion, disease prevention, management of minor acute and chronic conditions. She has experience in nurse-managed care settings, school-based settings, in a local health department. Her research and scholarship focus includes a variety of adolescent health issues, particularly related to trauma, sexuality and gender identity, as well as integrating these content areas into NP education. 

Dr. Mailey's nursing career began in 1994, working with medical-surgical patients. Since 1996, he has been a critical care nurse, with experience in trauma, transplant, cardiovascular, neuroscience, vascular, medical, and rapid response patients. He has also held roles in hospital administration. His academic credentials include an associate degree from Washtenaw Community College, a BSN from Oakland University, a master’s degree from South University, and a DNP from the University of Michigan. Dr. Mailey has conducted extensive research and possesses broad operational knowledge of Rapid Response System (RRT) implementation and operation. He has published numerous articles and lectured nationwide on this topic, and he has consulted multiple institutions on establishing their own RRTs. As a primary care adult gerontological nurse practitioner, Dr. Mailey is particularly interested in working with underserved populations.  

Jamie is a life-long Christian and a mother of three and grandmother of four. Family is incredibly important to Jamie. She and her husband are legal guardians to three of their four grandchildren after they tragically lost their 24-year-old daughter in a motorcycle accident in 2021.

Jamie is proud of her Native American heritage. She is a member of the Mississaugas of Hiawatha First Nation and has legal standing. The Michisaagiig of Rice Lake in Ontario has been recognized for over 200 years.

She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and received the Soroptomist Women’s Achievement Award in 2012. The program is a unique education award for women who provide primary financial support for their families.

Naila Russell has been affiliated with the graduate nursing program since fall of 2015. She has had the experience of teaching throughout the program as well as developing curriculum for a number of Nursing@Simmons courses.

As the Chair for Graduate Nursing, she strives to uphold our missions and values, deliver a rigorous curriculum, and mentor students and faculty for excellence. She is passionate about the role that nurse practitioners play in shaping the healthcare system and believes that nurse practitioners are the future of primary care in the United States. Her goal is for every Simmons graduate nursing student to leave the program prepared to advocate for social justice in health through patient care and professional leadership. She strives to achieve this goal for herself in her clinical practice, professional advocacy, and postgraduate education
